COMPANY
PROFILE :
CopperCabin
Lighting has its humble beginnings in 1997 when the owners were
building a log cabin. Without much experience in lighting design,
they started to review the options. The choices ranged from cheap
imports to custom made reproductions of period fixtures. The design
had to enhance the rustic style of the cabin and withstand the harsh
environments of the Pacific Northwest. The Project Wife opted for
the custom made at $300.00 each in a set of four. The Project Husband
exclaimed “Whoa! That IS a lot of money…. I can make
something better and spend the savings on a new boat”. She
was skeptical – he was confident.
With
an idea, simple sketch, a few tools, and a sheet of galvanized metal
he produced a mock-up which was reluctantly approved with comments
by the Project Wife (Comments: I hope this will look better in copper,
and how much is the boat going to cost?). The set of four was then
constructed from solid copper sheet. Although these first lights
were simple and somewhat crude in workmanship, he made them and
they looked great on the cabin. She liked them, too, he bought the
boat, and they lived happily
ever after.
This
early success led to new designs, consignment sales through a local
reproduction lighting store, and improvements in tooling, technique
and workmanship, to the point where the company had the capability
to produce consistent quality and value unequaled by other custom
light makers.
CopperCabin’s
unique designs compliment the rugged good looks of building construction
in wood, log, timber and stone - even when the electricity is turned
OFF.
